Winter tips
- It is nice to pack in different 'cells' in the sled. I.e. bags or ikea bags that can easily be removed and lifted into the tent. Pack all clothes and other things you do not want wet, waterproof in packing bags or plastic bags.
- Avoid water in skin products you have in winter and do not shower the same day you go out.
- Everything with liquids in it can freeze, so think about your packing and if you are unsure how it will react with the cold, try throwing it into the freezer. I handle e.g. lens fluid so that I defrost it before the lenses are taken out in the evening and store in the sleeping bag or between the sleeping pads so that it does not freeze at night.
- Pulling the sled is heavy (especially uphill) and you will get sweaty! So make sure you have a change of clothes.
- Thaw and dry frozen gloves, socks, boots etc. with hot water in bottles.
- In winter (depending on the time of year, of course), the days are short and you will probably spend more time in the tent. Although the routines around food and camp take more time when we camp in snow, it can still be cozy with something to do in the tent, eg read a book.
